Nationally Consistent Teacher Registration Working Group
Terms of reference
1Provide expert advice to AEEYSOC and MCEECDYA on strategies to achieve nationally consistent registration of teachers, in particular:
oidentify common requirements in the initial registration/accreditation of teachers
oscope draft national requirements for MCEECDYA consideration
oidentify the policy or legislative changes required for respective teacher regulatory authorities to achieve proposed national requirements
2Provide a work plan early in 2010, for endorsement by Ministers, which includes a timeline and describes risks and opportunities, key elements to be addressed in achieving national consistency and strategies to deal with key issues.
Timeframe and reporting arrangements
Provide an interim report and work plan early in 2010, with arrangements to be reviewed in July 2010
Membership
Chair is to be nominated from AEEYSOC members and the working group comprise nominated representatives of:
·the nine jurisdictions, with the understanding nominees may be ATRA members
·the Catholic and Independent school sectors
·the Australian Council of Deans of Education
·the AITSL Board.
